COVID-19 has affected our lives in many unimaginable ways. Restricted social gatherings and travel lockdowns are now part of our daily lives. It isolates us more, especially to foreign students who live alone without family members in this pandemic. They felt even more lonely and homesick more than ever. Hearth is built on the basis of trying to alleviate their homesickness.
Problem
Although homesickness is not categorised as mental illness, people who suffer from severe homesickness can have panic attack and even depression. Therefore, how do we counteract homesickness?
Challenge
How do we bring warmth of togetherness to this homesick people? By bringing them the memories of home. Hearth is a brand built on the idea of reconnecting people by doing mundane activities with their loved ones.
Solution
We need a sense of familiarity to curb homesickness. Through this sense of familiarity, we can evoke the feeling of nostalgia. Nostalgia is known to lessen homesickness, loneliness, and anxiety.
