THE GIRL AND THE MONSTERS

This is a story of a girl who is trapped inside her mind after long isolation in this pandemic. With nobody to talk to, she spent her time inside her mind spiralling out of control.

Sadness, self-doubt, and loneliness forced her deep into the rabbit hole, like monsters hunting down their prey. She defended herself and even tried to attack the monsters to break this chain and get out of her mind.

This project is my first venture of creating a hand-drawn animation. I used procreate to draw each frame and After Effect for post production edits.

Dear God in Heaven,

Will you hear my prayer?

I am trapped in this place

Full of emptiness.

Dear God in Heaven,

Why am I trapped here?

There are monsters around me.

Please don’t let them near me.

Don’t let them kill me.

Dear God in Heaven,

Why am I always so afraid?

I don’t have the courage

To destroy these monsters

Please lend me a shield

To protect myself.

Dear God in Heaven,

Why am I so weak?

I don’t have the strength

To push them out on my own.

Please lend me a weapon

To cut them out.

Dear God in Heaven,

When will I be able to breathe?

They are suffocating me

In this blank space.

Please, I need to live.

Dear God in Heaven,

Why can’t I see anything?

I can’t see in this darkness

I am getting lost.

Please let me have my sight

To see the way out

Dear God in Heaven,

When will I be heard?

I am screaming

But there is only silence

Please let me have my voice back

Dear God in Heaven,

When will I escape from this place?

I don’t see the way out

Please send me an angel

To get out from this place
